For the moment, focus on the basics - clean hands, always, at the table. Use whatever utensils are to hand, and if there are none, you can assume you are allowed to use your hands. If unsure, ask for help - most people will be happy to show you how it's done, especially if you ask nicely. Food is brought to your mouth from the plate, your mouth does not go down to the plate, excepting those situations where there are no utensils to do so, and even then, bringing the plate or bowl to you is consider politer than the reverse." He explains.

"But the biggest takeaway is always - if you are not sure, ask!"
