Jim's stomach sinks to his feet the more he watches John, seeing the way he practically drops to the ground, right there in front of him; but still so very far.

He looks back to the rest of the group, where the orcs are. Then back to John. His chest clenches painfully, and he steps closer to the barrier, evidently struggling to keep himself from simply stepping through it.

"What kind of death trap? Tell me," he says in a grave, sharp tone, just in case John tries to tone it down just to stop Jim from going in. At this point it's probably getting obvious that's on his mind already.
