Ariadne shook her head. The lake was actually a happy memory, all things considered. She'd spent the better part of an afternoon messing around, trying to solve its mysteries, before she eventually gave up.

Which was fine. The exercise had been good for her.

"I know what you're talking about. The one that threw me back every time I tried to break the surface of the water." She smiled. "Never figured out how or why."
