Mary Crawley | Downton Abbey | OTA

While riding around the farms on her horse, Mary has seen Sigyn working on the land in the district, something that makes her smile. Who would have thought that a goddess would actually get down in the dirt and work? Mary hardly does that herself. It's... kind of inspiring, actually.

That's why, once the flowers start to bloom, Mary gathers a big bouquet of carnations, cutting each of them at the stem and putting them in the basket. It's not quite digging in the dirt, but it's about as dirty as Mary gets on a regular basis.

Maybe it's the cheerfulness of the flowers, but Mary finds herself moving closer to whomever she runs into on the way back to the farmhouse, as the two of them converse. She's never been touchy feely, but it's easier to do when she feels like this. When they go to part, Mary puts her hand on the other person's arm.

"Oh, do stay. I've had a lovely time talking with you."
