"Maybe so, but what I said is it wouldn't upset me," he corrects, letting out a soft sigh of his own. This is ridiculous, honestly. All of it. John and Mary are the two closest people to him in this place, and he can't imagine going through his daily life without one or the other. Regardless of what John may be trying so hard to keep to himself (Jim already has a guess as to what it might be, anyway), he doesn't want it to be the reason why they can no longer be friends.

So he steps closer, resting a hand on John's shoulder and gently nudging. "Come on. We're walking together, and you're speaking your mind, and I'll prove it to you that I don't mind whatever it is you're trying so hard to hide from me," he says pointedly, lifting an eyebrow at him.
