He flew a kite with the fyeer rune, and while at first it was confusing and even painful -landing is something he have had a hard time learning-, he has ended up flying around Asgard as if he was born with a pair of wings on his back. His personality leads him to challenge himself, to try to fly even faster each time, to try flying against the wind. He has learned the hard way how that new temporal power seems to fade the further he gets from the city.
Riku has noticed that there are other people with other abilities during his flights; he has seen people talking with animals and has seen some abrupt changes with the weather. So it doesn't surprises him when he notices the snow, actually, it pushes him to find the cause of that change. He may have seen things, but doesn't know how it really works. )
