Come what may, Cadfael still had his duties. Gods might go mad, or there might be some outside attack (or inside), but people will continue to get sick or wounded, and it was his job to not only assign care, but to learn and study ashe went on. Much as he did put his work into the hands of his God, he also knew that to not try to the best of his and the patients' abilities was just giving up.As always, he would either be found in one of the medical labs or the rooms used to create and prescribe medicines and balms.

Fregnahöll: (OTA)As far as Cadfael was concerned, the library was 'his' preferred temple; a temple to read and catch on knowledge, to explore the unknown from a safe distance.Of course, once and awhile he did go back to the observatory, but the thought of so many universes and planets. He wondered how know one became mad at just the expanse.No, he would do his exploring through books, if not on the ground. This would be especially true with medical and surgical knowledge. On a more practical side, he would also spend the afternoon recording his own findings; plants, their description and where how they would grow; how they would actually cure a person, or sometimes even more vital, how they might harm someone.You may catch him at either task, but be warned that doing so might issue forth an impromptu lesson.

Sigyn district(OTA). For everything else, Cadfael's duties resolved around the gardens. Between himself and Ariadne, they've done fairly well in starting proper gardens; not just herbs but berries as well. While he never considered himself much of a cook, he knew well enough how to preserve fruit as well as experiment in making wine with them (blackberries as it turned out made the best wine second to grapes). While the herbs and roots were taken to the still room for drying and processing).Along with the herb garden, he spent his time on the vegetable patches and tending to the animals as well; as with cooking, the latter wasn't his speciality, but he knew enough to tend to and make sure they were healthy, along with making sure the various cows were milked.

You may very well catch him either at the garden or farm, but he might try to enlist your help if you insist on staying to chat..

Mary finishes making her daily rounds on her horse, then trots over to the herb gardens where she finds Cadfael working. She's glad that everyone has returned safely from setting up the outpost. She never thought she would miss sleeping in a spaceship, but it is definitely more comfortable than sleeping in a tent.

Mary disembarks from the horse so that she can see what Cadfael is up to. "Good morning," she says. "What are you picking today?"
