Heillhaus (OTA)
Come what may, Cadfael still had his duties. Gods might go mad, or there might be some outside attack (or inside), but people will continue to get sick or wounded, and it was his job to not only assign care, but to learn and study ashe went on. Much as he did put his work into the hands of his God, he also knew that to not try to the best of his and the patients' abilities was just giving up.As always, he would either be found in one of the medical labs or the rooms used to create and prescribe medicines and balms.
Fregnahöll: (OTA)As far as Cadfael was concerned, the library was 'his' preferred temple; a temple to read and catch on knowledge, to explore the unknown from a safe distance.Of course, once and awhile he did go back to the observatory, but the thought of so many universes and planets. He wondered how know one became mad at just the expanse. No, he would do his exploring through books, if not on the ground. This would be especially true with medical and surgical knowledge. On a more practical side, he would also spend the afternoon recording his own findings; plants, their description and where how they would grow; how they would actually cure a person, or sometimes even more vital, how they might harm someone. You may catch him at either task, but be warned that doing so might issue forth an impromptu lesson.
Sigyn district(OTA). For everything else, Cadfael's duties resolved around the gardens. Between himself and Ariadne, they've done fairly well in starting proper gardens; not just herbs but berries as well. While he never considered himself much of a cook, he knew well enough how to preserve fruit as well as experiment in making wine with them (blackberries as it turned out made the best wine second to grapes). While the herbs and roots were taken to the still room for drying and processing).Along with the herb garden, he spent his time on the vegetable patches and tending to the animals as well; as with cooking, the latter wasn't his speciality, but he knew enough to tend to and make sure they were healthy, along with making sure the various cows were milked.
You may very well catch him either at the garden or farm, but he might try to enlist your help if you insist on staying to chat..

Sigyn
Mary disembarks from the horse so that she can see what Cadfael is up to. "Good morning," she says. "What are you picking today?"
Re: Sigyn
He set the baskets aside. "How was your ride? After all the snow, imagine the horses are eager to be let out."

Mary stood up and pat the horse on the neck. "It was lovely. It seems like production on the farm has resumed now that the snow is gone." She knew it would be hard to try to tend to crops when they were buried under snow.

The herbs and other such plants needed a lot of pruning and trimming, but otherwise they seemed hardy enough to make it through the thaw. "Or..perhaps not, given where we are."
no subject
"Either way, I'm glad to hear it. A frost would have set us back several weeks or possibly killed the plants off entirely." Since the farm was a major source of food in Asgard, that would be a huge issue.

Which meant ensuring their gardens and farms didn't suffer from the extreme cold. "If you're done with your ride, would you join me for an herbal tea once the horse is settled in?"
no subject
She was so glad to have her normal horse from home and not have to worry about the eight-legged monstrosities any more. Once she was sure that the horse's reins were secured to a nearby tree, she returned to Cadfael.
"Is there somewhere near here that you usually make your tea?"

The walk by and large wasn't a long one. Ten minutes and the cabins would've already been within viewing distance. "As for new ones. Sage is something I'm surprised we don't have more of. The same for thyme, tumeric root, and primrose."
He made a mental note to speak with Ariadne about such additions.

"I've been hoping that we might add a rose garden when the weather gets a bit warmer," she continued. Roses were her favorite flower and it would probably remind her of home, not to mention that the aroma would be delightful.

He nodded at hearing her suggestion.
"Roses would be lovely, and-you'll pardon me for a moment for speaking as a physician-I've read that rose hips are actually very good for fortifying the body against illnesses. I'll see what I can do about it."
He quickened his pace, so as to open the door for her. The home was (well, not just his, but he did live there), so it was only hospitable.

Mary nodded at him as he opened the door for her and carefully stepped inside. Sigyn's cabin housing seemed very cozy.

Though, he supposed it helped that in his travels and own experiences, he was able to use his own judgement and observations when it came to patients. He didn't just rely on others' opinion of what worked.
Once inside, he made straight for the kitchen. "I've never really been one to cook, but I've some oat cakes and butter if you wish for something besides."

Mary took a seat at his kitchen table. "I'll have one, please," she said, wanting to be a polite guest.

And as far as he was aware, no patient or their kin ever felt wronged by him; the stealing of some of his monkshood not withstanding.
He set the kettle on to boil.

"Was your monastery in Wales?"
