May Event

something new inside & the storm

something new inside

may 11th-13th
something new inside

It's been a few days since the kite festival ended, and Wanderers and locals alike seem pleased to have passed time together in such a lovely festival. The weather is mild and the smell of flowers on the air sweet, and it seems that for once, Asgard might enjoy a spell of peace.

On the morning of the 11th, some of you wake with a new itch beneath your skin. It's a sensation not unlike the one you felt when your god first granted you powers, and indeed, those of you who flew a runed kite during the festival discover that you have new abilities at your disposal!

These new abilities start small, but each time a you use your power you find that your abilities grow in strength. Soon you can do more, and for longer before growing tired. In fact, you soon find that using your power is so fascinating that you don't want to stop. As you use them more and more, you might even find you can't stop, not for food, for sleep, or even to see the dear faces of your friends.

And, hidden away in the clutches of the children who found them, the rune stones begin to pulse with a strange, blue light, one that grows in intensity the longer each of you uses your newfound powers.

More information about the runes and their associated powers can be found in the infopost here!

the storm

may 14th-20th
the storm

As each of you use your rune granted powers more and more, the stones glow brighter and brighter, until at last they're nearly blinding to look at, and the air around them crackles with new energy that spreads outward and up. The children who found the runes grow fearful and hide them in the woods, but the damage is done. The storm summoned by all who used the runes has begun.

With the storm now born, you no longer feel compelled to use your new power, but it sure would be helpful of you to use it to combat the intensity of the storm! Like the rune powers themselves, the storm starts small, with rain and occasional thunder, but it's clearly growing in strength. Wanders and locals like take shelter indoors, hoping for it to pass, but it soon becomes clear that the storm isn't going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, after several days, strange weather events begin taking place. Rain suddenly seems to flow upward, snowflakes begin to fall in otherwise warm air, and lightning springs up from the ground. As each day passes, the storm grows more violent, sending the local wildlife into a frenzy as the animals try to shelter from the sudden and unpredictable storm.

Though you no longer feel the runes' pull, many of you soon realize that not only can your powers aid in weathering the storm, even those without powers can help to stop it. If runes brought the storm about, then destroying the runes will surely end it. Now where did those children put those stones, and how can they be convinced to show you for the good of all? It will surely take someone skilled in coaxing unwilling individuals - perhaps one of Tyr's ambassadors is up to the task...

Don't think Halone has anything to do with this. [The words are out of Rhus' mouth without him realising the significance of their small exchange, and he turns away from his impromptu guest to dig for a couple of clean towels, one for him and one for whoever it is in his apartment.] Especially in this blasted world...

[When he does manage to find the towels he's looking for, slinging one over his shoulder and holding the other out to his companion, he realises just what's happening.

And who exactly it is he yelled at with rude manners and a foul temper. His outstretched hand dips a little, brow furrowing so much that his eyepatch lifts slightly off of his skin as he tries to tell if this is reality, or just some trick.]

Lord Commander? [Aymeric, he almost says, but ever since the mess with the Scions falling over like so many logs of firewood, he's carefully kept a modicum of formality around the Alliance leaders, simply because he'd been acting as the representative of the Scions since then, and not their friend.]

( In a world like that, a world where he is no one important and has been practically taken away from his titles, the last thing he expects is someone to call him Lord Commander. That's why it takes him by surprise to hear a curiously familiar voice calling him that, even if his body doesn't move an inch to see the owner of the voice. Not yet, at least. )

Hm? ( It's the only sound that leaves his throat as he finally uncovers his eyes completely. A smile is quickly drawn on his lips, feeling a strange relief inside. At least he is not completely alone in an unknown world. Or at least not alone surrounded by unknown faces. Not that he is afraid to the unknown, but, being used to having at least one trustworthy person by his side... Just makes it hard to stand. ) 'Tis good to see a familiar face. Although I haven't been around for a long time, I was beginning to worry.

( Aymeric has not moved from his place while speaking, not wanting to wet the floor more than necessary. However, as soon as his blue eyes falls on what the miqo'te is doing it doesn't take him long to reach out, taking the offered towel and proceed to dry his hair. He speaks as he does so. )

I must apologize for the mess. If you allow me, I may clean it once I'm dry myself.

[He thought so-- he imagined he would have heard or at least seen Aymeric if he'd been here just a bit longer than almost certainly newly arrived. Rhus decides not to tell him that he himself has been here a number of moons already-- no sense in making Aymeric worry.

He manages to crack a small smile for his old friend.]

You're fine, Aymeric. I just worked on weather-proofing this building. [Even if he himself isn't weather-proof.

As evidenced by the way he turns his back on the Elezen so he can pry his eyepatch up and off to wipe his whole face clean and dry-- without Aymeric seeing the one, scarred-up half of his face that he's always attempted to hide from everyone. No, not even he can see this, and he's glad for whomever treated him after the disastrous battle at Ghimlyt, that they covered up his eye afterwards.]

But you would have been much better if you just stayed inside during the storm. What were you thinking?
