May Event
![]() something new insidemay 11th-13th ↴ something new inside It's been a few days since the kite festival ended, and Wanderers and locals alike seem pleased to have passed time together in such a lovely festival. The weather is mild and the smell of flowers on the air sweet, and it seems that for once, Asgard might enjoy a spell of peace. On the morning of the 11th, some of you wake with a new itch beneath your skin. It's a sensation not unlike the one you felt when your god first granted you powers, and indeed, those of you who flew a runed kite during the festival discover that you have new abilities at your disposal! ![]() These new abilities start small, but each time a you use your power you find that your abilities grow in strength. Soon you can do more, and for longer before growing tired. In fact, you soon find that using your power is so fascinating that you don't want to stop. As you use them more and more, you might even find you can't stop, not for food, for sleep, or even to see the dear faces of your friends. And, hidden away in the clutches of the children who found them, the rune stones begin to pulse with a strange, blue light, one that grows in intensity the longer each of you uses your newfound powers. More information about the runes and their associated powers can be found in the infopost here! the stormmay 14th-20th ↴ the storm ![]() As each of you use your rune granted powers more and more, the stones glow brighter and brighter, until at last they're nearly blinding to look at, and the air around them crackles with new energy that spreads outward and up. The children who found the runes grow fearful and hide them in the woods, but the damage is done. The storm summoned by all who used the runes has begun. With the storm now born, you no longer feel compelled to use your new power, but it sure would be helpful of you to use it to combat the intensity of the storm! Like the rune powers themselves, the storm starts small, with rain and occasional thunder, but it's clearly growing in strength. Wanders and locals like take shelter indoors, hoping for it to pass, but it soon becomes clear that the storm isn't going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, after several days, strange weather events begin taking place. Rain suddenly seems to flow upward, snowflakes begin to fall in otherwise warm air, and lightning springs up from the ground. As each day passes, the storm grows more violent, sending the local wildlife into a frenzy as the animals try to shelter from the sudden and unpredictable storm. Though you no longer feel the runes' pull, many of you soon realize that not only can your powers aid in weathering the storm, even those without powers can help to stop it. If runes brought the storm about, then destroying the runes will surely end it. Now where did those children put those stones, and how can they be convinced to show you for the good of all? It will surely take someone skilled in coaxing unwilling individuals - perhaps one of Tyr's ambassadors is up to the task... If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to refer to the infopost and the questions section below! |
HEY YOU DUMB SQUIRREL! - Terezi (Wide Open)
'I don't care what you say! Those were my nuts and you give them back you deranged fluff-tail nut hoarder! I am going to kick your furry butt if you don't!'
The squirrel's rejoinder wasn't fit for public consumption. Who knew that squirrels knew how to say F-bombs so prolifically. Terezi turned to whoever happened to be nearby and pointed at it. "Will you get a load of the nuts on this nut-hoarder beast?!?" A peanut came rocketing down and bonked her on the head. "HEY! I SAW THAT!"

[Sora flew a kite with the symbol that gives the power over weather. At first, he delights in making it nice and warm and sunny. Then he feels so curious and fascinated that he proceeds to try other weather phenomenon. Such as snow. He keeps trying, creating small weather patterns around him specifically at first but it gets to affecting a larger area the more he practices and the better he gets at this power. He doesn't stop either. Not eating or sleeping, and not to go see his friends like he might have arranged earlier.
Which is probably rather. Concerning. As if his friends weren't almost always worried about him for some reason or other. Sora laughs as he creates more snow, then proceeding to make a snowman and lob snowballs at whoever might be near at the time.
He probably still looks exhausted from lack of sleep, and has gotten to the point where his stomach is no longer growling at him he's gone that long without eating, as he stands outside near Heimdall Housing.]

[Or feel free to throw in a starter for me with the storm prompt? Or relating to another character's new abilities from the runes on the kites.]
Something New Inside
He flew a kite with the fyeer rune, and while at first it was confusing and even painful -landing is something he have had a hard time learning-, he has ended up flying around Asgard as if he was born with a pair of wings on his back. His personality leads him to challenge himself, to try to fly even faster each time, to try flying against the wind. He has learned the hard way how that new
temporalpower seems to fade the further he gets from the city.Riku has noticed that there are other people with other abilities during his flights; he has seen people talking with animals and has seen some abrupt changes with the weather. So it doesn't surprises him when he notices the snow, actually, it pushes him to find the cause of that change. He may have seen things, but doesn't know how it really works. )
Catch you! ( He cries as he throws himself against Sora in a playfull maner, waiting for the snow to cushion the fall and possible hit. He rolls over as he laughs, but soon finds himself floating again not to far from his friend. ) Hey! Do you know who is the cause of all this snow? I'd like to ask them for a favor.
no subject
[That's kind of awesome. Why can't he fly? He used to be able to, gliding and flying around Neverland and all. Not anymore since he arrived here though. Sora is at least a little distracted in giggling when Riku lands in throwing himself at Sora like that. He just barely manages to get a bit of snow drift there to try and cushion Riku's fall even as Sora himself falls as Riku falls on him some.]
Ah, it's me! I can do all sorts!
[Cue a brief bit of sun before he summons a dark cloud to attract some thunder and lightning just above him.]
no subject
( He flips backwards in midair before getting closer to Sora, wondering for how long he would be able to handle his friend's weight. Maybe he could carry Sora for a bit? But that question is quickly forgotten once he hears who the author of that snow is. )
Really?!
( Riku laughs as he sees the weird mix of weather above him, moving fast as if trying to avoid it hitting him or something. Soon his lips curls into a smirk, approaching again the brunet, a daring look on his face. )
Do you know how great is that?! Hey, hey. Throw me your most powerful wind. Try to push me away!

Blinking, she looked and finally noticed him.]
Hey! Ease up on the cold stuff! That's you doing that, right?

[Sora laughs, grinning and shifting to approach and help her dust off some snow from her shoulder. As he gives an almost sheepish look, there's the sun coming to beam down on them. Because clearly that will warm her up and make it better, right? Of course it would.]

Hehe, much better... so wait, you can do that now? Weird. I'm talking to beasts for some reason. It's really cool. You'd be amazed what they talk about.
...
Actually you wouldn't. Mostly nuts.

b: the storm
His huge robe isn't with him this time since he left it back in his room, knowing how heavy would be once wet. A long-necked black sweater and his gloves are covering his upper body, but every bone in his body feels cold and sore. How long has he been under the storm looking for his sword? His black bangs are glued to his skin, covering his eyes. As if it wasn't difficult to see with the storm without having his hair bothering him. With one arm he tries to cover his eyes from the watter while he uses the other one to keep his balance.
The elezen starts thinking about giving up for the moment and going back to his room, wait for it to stop, when a voice echoes through the noisy storm. He looks up, or tries to, to where he believes the owner of the voice is. His lips parts to say something, to answer in a calm way the swearing, but he shuts them again as soon as he realizes the silhouette has disappeared. What in the seven hells?
He takes a step, ready to leave, when the voice once again calls his attention. The commander looks around with narrowed eyes and furrowed brows; not upset with the owner of the voice, just finding the drops that run down his face without stopping, and some even daring to get on his eyes. Dropping both his arms he snorts, blowing any drop that dared to enter his mouth. It takes him a few seconds before he runs and skips some steps. )
The Furt must be upset with us, that's quite a storm. ( It's the first thing to leave his lips the moment he stops feeling the rain hitting his body. Leaning down and placing both hands over his kneels he catches his breath from that short but quick run. With a smile he leans back, removing his black bangs from his face the best as possible. ) I didn't expect the storm to become so aggressive, and for that I appreciate your shelter.

[When he does manage to find the towels he's looking for, slinging one over his shoulder and holding the other out to his companion, he realises just what's happening.
And who exactly it is he yelled at with rude manners and a foul temper. His outstretched hand dips a little, brow furrowing so much that his eyepatch lifts slightly off of his skin as he tries to tell if this is reality, or just some trick.]
Lord Commander? [Aymeric, he almost says, but ever since the mess with the Scions falling over like so many logs of firewood, he's carefully kept a modicum of formality around the Alliance leaders, simply because he'd been acting as the representative of the Scions since then, and not their friend.]
no subject
Hm? ( It's the only sound that leaves his throat as he finally uncovers his eyes completely. A smile is quickly drawn on his lips, feeling a strange relief inside. At least he is not completely alone in an unknown world. Or at least not alone surrounded by unknown faces. Not that he is afraid to the unknown, but, being used to having at least one trustworthy person by his side... Just makes it hard to stand. ) 'Tis good to see a familiar face. Although I haven't been around for a long time, I was beginning to worry.
( Aymeric has not moved from his place while speaking, not wanting to wet the floor more than necessary. However, as soon as his blue eyes falls on what the miqo'te is doing it doesn't take him long to reach out, taking the offered towel and proceed to dry his hair. He speaks as he does so. )
I must apologize for the mess. If you allow me, I may clean it once I'm dry myself.

So you can bet that when he passes by Tyr house and suddenly finds himself getting rained on, he's very surprised when his surprise and subsequent thought of oh my god why is it raining makes it abruptly stop.
And he stops abruptly too, staring ahead for a moment, then turns a full lap on the spot, before he finally looks up at the sky.
He'd be sorry about messing with Rhus's rain but ... really, he's not. ]

Wei Wuxian | Mo Dao Zu Shi / The Untamed | for LWJ
Wei Wuxian laughs each time a new crystalline flake lands on his lashes, overjoyed to have brought a bit of the Cloud Recesses to their home that so resembles Lotus Pier.
He doesn't notice when it becomes difficult to stop. Lan Wangji grows more stiff by each passing moment, his mouth no longer silent when it comes to entreating Wei Wuxian to eat or to sleep. For a time, Wei Wuxian bends to his will more often than he ignores it, well versed enough now in Lan Wangji's various levels of agitation to know when it's important, but as the days pass, Wei Wuxian notices less and less when he's told to stop.
On the evening of the third day, after Lan Zhan has gone to bed at a ridiculous hour, Wei Wuxian slips from the bed and goes outside, certain now that he can call just the gentle storm that will make their rice grow even faster. Warm rain falls around him, neatly parting over his hair and shoulders so as not to soak him, and Wei Wuxian laughs again. There's a jug of wine at his side, but he can't remember the last time he took a drink. He hardly remembers it's there at all, his eyes full of the summoned, swirling clouds overhead.
Re: Wei Wuxian | Mo Dao Zu Shi / The Untamed | for LWJ
At first it had been fine. The new powers had made Wei Ying happy which should have made Lan Zhan happy. Jealously notwithstanding, Wei Ying had made it snow just for him and it was horribly selfish to be anything but thrilled. But then it hadn't stopped. Daily habits and chores fell the to the wayside until Lan Zhan could not even get Wei Ying to take meals with him, much less take to their bed. They had a very regular, very enthusiastic routine and when Lan Zhan had woken this morning to find Wei Ying had not come to bed once again, he'd had enough. He's tried, throughout the day, to convince him with stern and then sharp words.
And now, it is raining again. He pushes out of bed, not bothering to pull back his hair and steps out in his inner robe, stomping over to Wei Ying as he gets soaked. "Wei Ying!" he shouts, peering up at the darkening clouds that have entranced him.
no subject
"Lan Zhan," he says, immediately parting the flow of rain around him, too. Lan Zhan rises before the sun, but it can't be morning already? "You are up so late, go to sleep!"

Naminé | Kingdom Hearts
[ Initially, Naminé tries to spend more time indoors - which isn't hard, really, considering most of her hobbies lean that way anyhow. But life must go on, so after the first couple of days she ventures out occasionally, umbrella always resting over her shoulder. It isn't too difficult to keep dry, though the unyielding nature of the storm does call back memories from another, more immediately threatening weather event.
So by the time things really start to get weird, she's fallen into a tense sort of calm about the whole ordeal. At first when she begins to feel a few extra drops of water, she thinks perhaps her umbrella's sprung a leak. That illusion lasts for maybe about five seconds before the upside-down rain begins in earnest, giving her quite a fright and eliciting a squawk of surprise.
Once she thinks of aiming the parasol downwards she's already quite damp, but at least thereafter she's generous enough to make her way over to the nearest person and try to angle it so as to save both of them some discomfort with a, ]

We keep getting soaked together don't we?

That's one thing you could say about it...!
[ The blonde wasn't nearly as giddy over it all, but even she had to giggle an extra time at the comment, her mouth pulling wider at the corners as her cheeks rose. ]
I'd tell you that we shouldn't make it a habit, but it looks like we already have.

Héctor | Coco
[The first few days, it's nearly impossible to tell he's changed in any way. Nothing odd about him being a chatterbox, is there? Even to animals he'll always have a few friendly words for anyone. He isn't keeping it a secret, though, happy to tell anyone about his interesting new magic--mostly because he can now have two-sided conversations with his trio of kittens.
And one morning he awakes with a brand new idea, one so obvious he's kicking himself for not thinking of it sooner. Get with the program, Héctor, you fool. Out into the streets he goes, cheerfully flagging down anyone familiar.]
Hey! Do you have a minute? Got any pets?
the storm
[Once the storm arrives, he's at a bit of a loss. Neither of his magical skills are much use against bad weather... the only thing he can do, really, is give fleeing animals directions and help them along, as well as any people. It's unpleasant to be soaked to the bone, but it's hardly the worst he's suffered.
The wind is worse than the rain. He's tall and as thin as anyone can be, unsteady on his feet on a good day. He's not a man, he's a walking toothpick. So, it shouldn't be much of a surprise that as the storm strengthens, a powerful gust of wind blows him right over, sending him to the ground with a yelp.
A little assistance might be nice!!]

He's skin and bones, he's - all bones, Shen Wei realizes as he runs closer through the mud. If he hadn't spent the last decade speaking to the flower, the crow, and the snake tribes, this might give him more pause, but for now Shen Wei only kneels at his side. "Are you alright?"
