May Event
![]() something new insidemay 11th-13th ↴ something new inside It's been a few days since the kite festival ended, and Wanderers and locals alike seem pleased to have passed time together in such a lovely festival. The weather is mild and the smell of flowers on the air sweet, and it seems that for once, Asgard might enjoy a spell of peace. On the morning of the 11th, some of you wake with a new itch beneath your skin. It's a sensation not unlike the one you felt when your god first granted you powers, and indeed, those of you who flew a runed kite during the festival discover that you have new abilities at your disposal! ![]() These new abilities start small, but each time a you use your power you find that your abilities grow in strength. Soon you can do more, and for longer before growing tired. In fact, you soon find that using your power is so fascinating that you don't want to stop. As you use them more and more, you might even find you can't stop, not for food, for sleep, or even to see the dear faces of your friends. And, hidden away in the clutches of the children who found them, the rune stones begin to pulse with a strange, blue light, one that grows in intensity the longer each of you uses your newfound powers. More information about the runes and their associated powers can be found in the infopost here! the stormmay 14th-20th ↴ the storm ![]() As each of you use your rune granted powers more and more, the stones glow brighter and brighter, until at last they're nearly blinding to look at, and the air around them crackles with new energy that spreads outward and up. The children who found the runes grow fearful and hide them in the woods, but the damage is done. The storm summoned by all who used the runes has begun. With the storm now born, you no longer feel compelled to use your new power, but it sure would be helpful of you to use it to combat the intensity of the storm! Like the rune powers themselves, the storm starts small, with rain and occasional thunder, but it's clearly growing in strength. Wanders and locals like take shelter indoors, hoping for it to pass, but it soon becomes clear that the storm isn't going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, after several days, strange weather events begin taking place. Rain suddenly seems to flow upward, snowflakes begin to fall in otherwise warm air, and lightning springs up from the ground. As each day passes, the storm grows more violent, sending the local wildlife into a frenzy as the animals try to shelter from the sudden and unpredictable storm. Though you no longer feel the runes' pull, many of you soon realize that not only can your powers aid in weathering the storm, even those without powers can help to stop it. If runes brought the storm about, then destroying the runes will surely end it. Now where did those children put those stones, and how can they be convinced to show you for the good of all? It will surely take someone skilled in coaxing unwilling individuals - perhaps one of Tyr's ambassadors is up to the task... Mid-Storm
[There was laughter coming from the girl next to her now that the parasol was starting to block their soaking frames. She was laughing despite it all, her lips pulled back in a giddy grin.]
We keep getting soaked together don't we?
no subject
That's one thing you could say about it...!
[ The blonde wasn't nearly as giddy over it all, but even she had to giggle an extra time at the comment, her mouth pulling wider at the corners as her cheeks rose. ]
I'd tell you that we shouldn't make it a habit, but it looks like we already have.
no subject
[She was trying to help push the two of the towards an awning where they could at least get away from the worst of it. Damn but this was going to be a problem before too long. But first thing was first, or they'd be wet AND shivering.]
no subject
[ Doing her best to keep pace with Terezi so as to provide them both as much cover as possible, Naminé used both hands to hold down the umbrella. As they drew nearer the awning, though, she began to realize-- ]
Do you think it'll help? Since the water's...
[ You know, falling upward. ]
no subject
[She was frowning something fierce, calling out every time she saw an animal freaking out to get it to calm down. Guh, she needed Sora. he had the weather related powers right?]
Did you happen to get any of the weather powers lately?
no subject
[ That was about as good an explanation as any, and one Naminé had to speak rather loudly over the sound of rather rushing against the umbrella. As they neared the awning, she peered underneath it. ]
… No luck, [ she observed, although the rain under the cover was more of a drizzle, at least, than the slowly increasing up-pour outside of its shade. Hearing her companion calling out, Naminé turned, momentarily puzzled, but made no immediate comment. Blinking at Terezi's question, the blonde shook her head. ]
I don't think so. I've been wanting the water to stop this whole time, and it hasn't changed anything...!
[ Her legs were still quite rain-soaked. ]
no subject
[There was water going everywhere. And this was getting annoying. She had to think about it for a second before she hit upon what should have been the most obvious of questions. She looked over at Naminé and grinned broadly through the soak.]
Waaaaaaitaminute. Have you been inside a building before it started raining?
no subject
Yes, [ she answered, a tiny bit absently as she adjusted the rod of the umbrella in one hand and brushed some of the dampness off of her shoulder with the other before glancing back at Terezi. ] Why...?
no subject
...
Uhhh... though that won't work overnight.
[She was trying to hover protectively, but her own body wasn't going to do that much good at fighting all this rain. They had to get out until Sora and the others with weather powers could shut this stuff down.]
no subject
[ Considering it a moment, she shook her head and looked up at Terezi. ]
Still, it's worth trying, even if it's only a temporary solution. I'll try to cover us both the best I can.
[ Which probably went without saying, but perhaps they could both use the encouragement all the same. ]
no subject
[And, as soon as Namine was ready, she was off, preferring a brisk pace. Thankfully the god's houses were at least protected from this thing. Gods were protective of their own places, after all.]
no subject
[ That was about the only way they'd get any less wet, barring some manner of supernaturally dry rain. And though she'd learned well enough where the Houses were, Naminé was perfectly content to let Terezi lead while the blonde concentrated on blocking the rain. Agreeably, ]
I'll follow you.
[ They both had reason to prefer a quick pace, although that did make it a bit more challenging for Naminé to protect them. With the occasional slippage and errant burst of water came her, ]
-- Sorry...!
no subject
[She was giving a good hussle, leading the way. Really, thee quick pace guaranteed they'd be soaked, but by the time that Mimir House was in view, all she cared about was getting in those walls and drying off, maybe getting something to eat.]
Whattaya wanna bet I have to start over on the tree house?
no subject
[ Honestly, the idea was a bit of a relief; there was less to worry about, thinking of it that way. Concentrated though she was on keeping up, Naminé still sucked in a sympathetic breath at the comment, looking over at her moirail. ]
Oh no...! I hadn't thought about that.
[ But now she was, and dangit. ]
Well, maybe that part of the city will be-- [ With a falter, she realized that the rain was beginning to slow - quite significantly actually, as if they'd stepped into a new zone, somehow. ] … Better...?
no subject
[Oi. Someone needed to get her to stop using those words. Either way, she was reaching for the door and opening it for Naminé, grinning at her. Even when things were crappy, sometimes she could find the fun side of things, if not the silver lining.]
It's dry, in in in. We'll worry about the treehouse in a bit.
no subject
[ She trailed off, recognizing the feeling of herself starting to fret. That wasn't going to improve anything, and she had no desire to cause Terezi any trouble by fussing, so after a moment Naminé shook her head, letting it go. ]
… Alright. But if--
[ BOOM. Naminé startles as lightning strikes not far away. Head whipping around to look behind her, she hesitates a moment in the doorframe before hurriedly stepping through. ]
!!
no subject
Don't worry about the if's for a minute, Naminé. It'll be fine. Sora's got weather powers, and I think a couple of the others do. I've got beast ones. So I can get them to calm down, but if it's that soaking we need them to do their thing.
It'll be fine, k? Let's get you dried off a little.
no subject
I... suppose. Every storm we've had before has passed eventually. [ Although that was less her concern than the treehouse - but it wasn't as though there was much either of them could do about it. ] As long as there are still safe places to hide from it, it's only a matter of time.
[ Umbrella finally shut, she glanced downward and observed, in the same vein as Terezi's suggestion, ]
We're making an awful mess...! I'll help you clean it up, once we're dry.
no subject
...
[She laughed a little as she started to lead the way, looking over her shoulder.]
Ya know... I've been almost living here alone for months now. Mimir was never that popular a house, oddly.
no subject
We are, aren't we?
[ When the rain flowed upward, it kind of tended to take some dirt with it. Moving to catch up with Terezi, Naminé faltered at the revelation. ]
What - really? You've been by yourself for that long?
no subject
[She was leading her back, grateful that at least they weren't muddy and grimey, just wet from head to toe. nothing a good towel-off wouldn't start, and she could loan her some of her... uh... black pants and black t-shirts. She really needed to work on her variety.]
We were always kind of a quiet house. Heimdall, Honir and Sigyn are kinda hero houses ya know?
no subject
[ Not that she was ever neglectful of her moirail, but still. Naminé looked rather contrite about it, though she kept close to Terezi all the same. ]
It never felt like there were that many of us. But I guess-- it's hard to know how things compare when you don't spend very much time at any of the other Houses.
[ Naminé was not exactly a social butterfly, despite getting along relatively well with most people she met. ]
no subject
[She wasn't going to imagine that it might also mean that the magic holding them here was fading. That was a less pleasant thought, one that they'd get to address later on. For now, she offered her a towel and grinned over at her.]
And don't worry. We spend plenty of time together. I can be a lot to handle in heavy doses. We know that.
no subject
[ Which was a bittersweet possibility to consider, and one that filled her chest with more dread than it ought to have. Before she could let her mind wander that direction, however, there was a towel being held out to her. Using that to distract herself, she murmured a 'thank you' as she took it. ]
Well, yes - we do see each other a lot. But I've never thought that about you.
[ Looking contemplative, she took a moment to pat at the ends of her hair with the towel in the hopes of stopping some of the rainwater still dripping from them. ]
I just don't like the idea of you being stuck somewhere all alone. Not unless you want to be alone, that is.
no subject
[Man, Equius... She laughed and started to towel off and shook her head some.]
But I'm glad I've grown on you enough not to worry too much about too much of me.
